Four secret service agents were involved in a car crash in New Hampshire that left all of them injured and the driver of the other car dead, police say.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Wakefield as the four on-duty agents were traveling in a Ford Taurus north on New Hampshire 's Route 16, when the other vehicle , a Mercury Sable, crossed the double-yellow solid line and collided with it, local police said, according to the Associated Press.
The driver of the other car, 45-year-old Bruce Danforth, died at the scene of the crash while the two passengers with him, aged 21 and 35, were injured. The two were treated at a nearby hospital for unspecified injuries.
The four Secret Service agents, who remain unidentified, were also rushed to the hospital for what was described as "serious, but non-life threatening" injuries, Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy said in a statement, according to NBC News.
"Please join us as we keep all the victims of this accident and their families in our thoughts and prayers," Clancy said.
It's unclear who the secret service members were protecting, as several candidates for the White House are campaigning in New Hampshire, according to CNN.
Wakefield police and New Hampshire State Police are investigating the incident.
