The Sacramento Kings are 12-19 so far this season, but if you look at their roster, they are a lot more talented than their record would indicate. Because of all of that talent, it has been hard for head coach George Karl to find minutes for some of his younger players that have played well in spurts like Seth Curry. Curry is currently buried on the depth chart, but Karl said that he is looking to find more time for the younger brother of the reigning MVP, according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.
Curry was with the New Orleans Pelicans in the summer league and was extremely impressive before signing with the Kings this offseason. Curry has continued to play well when he has the opportunity, but as of right now, he is a victim of being third on the depth chart at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. Rajon Rondo and Darren Collison have been getting the minutes at the point while Ben McLemore and Marco Belinelli get all of the minutes at the two, and Karl has been satisfied with their performance.
"I hope Seth is patient and I think sometimes experimenting at home is easier to do than on the road," said Karl.
Since making this statement, the Kings have played just one game, a loss to Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors, and Seth played 20 minutes in that game. Curry didn't have his best game, as he scored seven points on 1-6 shooting, but this could be a sign that more playing time is coming his way.
So far this season, Curry has appeared in just 16 of the teams 31 games. In those 16 games, Curry has averaged just over 10 minutes, but his shooting percentages are very good, as he is making 45 percent of his field goals and 41 percent of his three pointers.
The 25-year-old former Duke Blue Devil is not a natural point guard but is also on the small side to play the two, which has been part of his issue in his NBA career. The thing with Seth Curry though is that he is a guy that has always been able to find ways to score. Curry is a marksmen from deep, but he has also added more to his game, and so far this season, when given the opportunity, he has produced so maybe his time to be in the rotation is now.
