Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump renewed his personal attacks on GOP challenger Jeb Bush for 2016 with a series of insults. Reacting to news that the former Florida governor plans to increase his attack ads, Trump took to Twitter to call Bush "a sad case," a "low energy stiff" and a "total embarrassment" to his family, The Hill reported.
In a recent analysis of thousands of tweets by Trump in the second half of 2015, Politico found that out of all the potential targets in the 2016 election cycle, Jeb Bush took the brunt of Trump's most unkind words in 140 characters or less. Trump targeted the former Florida governor 97 times, compared to 65 hits on Hillary Clinton and 49 on Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Trump calling Bush an "embarrassment" on Twitter wasn't the first time he's done so, nor was it the only medium. On NBC's Meet The Press last month, after Bush called Trump a "jerk," the real estate mogul said Bush was bad for the family name, CNN reported.
"He's an embarrassment to the Bush family, and in fact he doesn't even want to use the Bush name, which is interesting," Trump said. "Jeb is an embarrassment to himself and his family, and the Republican Party has essentially -- they're not even listening to Jeb."
Bush is in sixth place among 2016 Republican candidates at just 4.3 percent, according to RealClear Politics polling averages.
