The 2016 Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest electronics trade show, is just around the corner, and organizers are expecting about 170,000 attendees with at least 3,600 exhibitors coming from a diverse set of manufacturers, ranging from small to giant tech companies. The entire trade show will occupy 2.4 million square feet of space, up from the 2.23 million last year, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Spectators and tech enthusiasts, therefore, have plenty of gadgets and technologies to look forward to from Jan. 6 to 9 in Las Vegas.
Fans on the market for a new phone can still bank on the event for new releases. While most mobile phone companies reserve big announcements and unveilings during the Mobile World Congress, which is happening in March this year, CES can still prove to be an important mobile launch platform. Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S7 is widely rumored to make an appearance or at least get to be introduced before a select audience within closed door demonstrations. LG is also known to reveal new hardware during the trade show, such as the case with the GFlex 2 revealed last year.
Cars are also expected to make a significant splash during the trade show. Major automakers will be making groundbreaking announcements, according to The Verge. Other notable techs include televisions, wearable technology, drones and robots. LG, particularly, is rumored to be getting ready to launch its 8K TV, reported Engadget. Virtual reality systems can also prove to be a formidable player that will compete for spectators' attention.
