In a recent interview with EOnline, executive producer Marlene Kings discussed how the relationships in the show have changed.
"Spoby's solid for now. Haleb is in flux, but those two love each other," she said according to EOnline. "It's been such a roller coaster ride this year for our couples, and for us when we create the show. I love Spoby, I love Haleb, I love Ezria, and when you put these couples in the ringer as we've done, it's painful for us. But If I can make myself cry, if I can give myself goosebumps, then it's good storytelling and I know it's effective."
Out of all the relationships King mentioned, there’s only one that is affected by another show—Haleb. Many fans have been worried that Miranda would come between Hannah and Caleb. However, in a separate interview with EW.com, King said nothing is set in stone.
“There’s nothing set in stone that says that anybody has to be in a relationship with anyone else,” Marlene King said according to EW’s.com Sandra Gonzalez. “I think as we’re getting to know the characters; they’re leading the way as to where we go with these relationships.”
According to King, Caleb isn’t the only person who will have a potential love interest outside of his relationship.
“The same goes for Hanna on ‘Pretty Little Liars’ — there’s a new character who becomes a part of her life while Caleb is in Ravenswood and we are letting those characters sort of pave the way and decide if there’s going to be a relationship there or not,” King added.
“Pretty Little Liars” returns in Janurary. “Ravenswood” airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC Family.
