‘Scandal’ Season 3 Spoilers, Rumors: Olivia Pope’s Mom is Still Alive and in Hiding?

In a shocking turn of events on a recent episode of "Scandal" viewers learned that President Fitz killed Olivia's mom on her dad's orders. The episode ended with Jake and Huck telling Olivia the disturbing news.

According to TV Line, there are several theories about what happened and why President Fitz was given the orders to take the plane down. As the website points, Rowan, Olivia's father, could have discovered that his wife was a spy. Everyone already knows that if you start digging into B613's existence bad things will end happening to you. There was also another theory that the mom might have discovered what Rowan really does.

"Who else has to die to protect a secret no one on this planet is looking for," the President said to Rowan.

The cast recently tweeted about a table read for an upcoming episode hinting at fans how shocking it's going to be.

"There's an episode coming up where it's being compared to a Fitz-killed Verna reveal. It's like that but on steroids," TV Line reports. "They had to stop the table read multiple times because it was that bananas. It just turns everything upside down. What you thought was false is true, what you thought was true is false."

There are other rumors that Olivia's mom isn't really dead and could be just hiding out somewhere. It was previously revealed that some of this season would focus on Olivia's relationship with her dad, Rowan. Maybe it will also provide glimpses into who her mother is.

Shonda Rimes also revealed that the top-secret Operation Remington would drag Olivia into it and by the end of the episode it's clear the show has barely even scratched the surface when it comes to the discovery that her mom was on the plane President Fitz shot down.

"It's complex," Rhimes said. "You discover things on top of things on top of things that really go the heart of who Olivia is as a person."

"If you think about the darkest thing you can imagine about Olivia, it's probably that," Scott Foley, who plays Jake added. "That's how dark Remington is."
