Sony Rolls Out 3.00 Update for PS Vita: Links It To PS4 Titles

Sony rolled out update 3.00 for PS Vita on Monday. The new firmware, ahead of the PS4 launch, will allow the handheld to play certain PS4 games.

The PS Vita will act as a second screen for the PS4 owners as the latest firmware will give access to certain PS4 games on the hand held console. Also the gamers will be able to remotely access PS 4 and view information on the console titles on PS Vita, reads the official Play Station blog.

The update will also bring in a few other changes to the PS Vita to make the gaming experience more exciting and fun filled for the players. The gamers will now be able fix the game play duration and also check unauthenticated access of Internet and location data.

The 3.00 update will add a Panoramic Camera. The user interface for the Friend application on PS Vita has been revamped and received four new options- (i) to find friends on PS network, (ii) friends, (iii) to add new friends and (iv)to block existing friends.

The new message icon allows any of the PS Vita owners to converse with other players on PS Network even while playing games. The party icon has received a new look and enables voice chats with PS 4 players. The email synchronization helps in adding contacts/ players from the mailing service to the game.

The latest update will also support cross-platform functionality between PS 3 and PS Vita. The Remote Play feature has been renamed as PS 3 Remote Play with the 3.00 update.

The 3.00 update from Sony can be viewed as an attempt to save the handheld consoles from becoming obsolete while the next generation console is a month away.
