"Call of Duty: Ghosts" is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it's aiming to beat out its predecessors in every way imaginable, but it might fall a little short.
Game critics have dubbed the game an "old dog, new tricks," meaning not too much has changed from its previous titles. However, this isn't to say the game should be dismissed, but in hopes of competing with titles like "Grand Theft Auto 5" and its success, the developers might be overreaching.

The Good: Gamespot rates the game an 8 out of 10
"The first few minutes of Call of Duty: Ghosts don't paint a terribly accurate portrait of what lies ahead. You barely have time to take stock of the idyllic Southern California setting before fire begins raining down from the heavens, destroying every car and home in sight as a shouty man commands you to follow him to safety.
"But whereas Infinity Ward's recent work on the Modern Warfare series was weighed down by bewildering plot twists and an affinity for restricting its most exciting moments to noninteractive set dressing, Ghosts tells a lean, straightforward story that throws you into plenty of spectacular situations, but with more breathing room to appreciate the action. Along with the outstanding new Extinction co-op mode and an abundance of clever refinements to competitive multiplayer, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a refreshing and thoroughly satisfying entry in the blockbuster shooter franchise."
The Bad: CVG gives the title a 7 out of 10
"There is an overwhelming sense of familiarity one gets from playing Call Of Duty: Ghosts and that's probably because an iteration of this series drops every year without truly reinventing the wheel. Its formula is a world-record-breaking recipe for success. It's fun, sure, but it's not ground-breaking. But then, for the purposes of its audience, does it need to be?"
The Better: IGN rates the game an 8.8 out of 10
"'Call of Duty: Ghosts' isn't a reinvention of the franchise, but proves there's still room for innovation within its existing formula. Though at the risk of overcomplicating things at times, its robust multiplayer gameplay, surprisingly fun co-op modes, and lengthy, challenging, and varied campaign makes Ghosts one of the best Call of Duty games to date."
