'Making A Murderer': Nancy Grace Says Steven Avery's Netflix Documentary Is 'Misleading' (VIDEO)

Nancy Grace, the legal commentator and HLN TV journalist, weighed in on the Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer," which follows the story of Steven Avery, a resident of Wisconsin's Manitowoc County who was wrongfully convicted of a sexual assault in 1985 then exonerated - only to be accused and convicted of the rape and murder of local photographer Teresa Halbach 20 years later. Grace called into HLN's "Morning Express with Robing Meade" to recount her experience covering the Avery case 10 years ago and revealed whether she believed he was guilty or not.

"This is so, so upsetting to see a miscarriage of justice like this perpetrated on viewers," Grace told Meade about the documentary, which was directed by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos.

Grace went on to explain, in elaborate detail, how she "grilled" Avery "like a steak" about his theory and claim that he was framed by Manitowoc County officers and said, "he couldn't answer, why? Because he was lying."

She also corroborated the prosecutor's claim that Ricciardi and Demos left out key evidence from the documentary that proved Avery's guilt. Former Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz said that there were phone call records proving that Avery requested Halbach to photograph one of the cars at the Avery Auto Salvage, where he worked and lived, and also proved that he had used the *67 feature to block his number on at least two phone calls to Halbach's cell phone the day she was murdered, Entertainment Weekly reported.

"There were hardly any details regarding his guilt," Grace said of the documentary. "It's all about him whining into the camera about a miscarriage of justice. Now granted, there was a miscarriage of justice, he was put behind bars on a sex assault charge, granted, I give you that. So what then? He shouldn't be convicted for Halbach's murder because of that miscarriage? This is absolutely misleading."
