Entertainment Arts (EA) and DICE officially announced that Battlefield 4 will be release this fall at the Game Developers Conference 2013 in San Francisco on Tuesday.
During the event at GDC 2013, EA released a 17-minute gameplay footage of Battlefield 4, featuring four soldiers on the run from the Russian militants in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.
It has added more "human, dramatic, and believable" action gaming experience. The next-generation Battlefield is set to release in fall 2013, in Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions but EA did not mention about the game being launched for PS4 and Microsoft's next console. The game will be running on the latest technology of DICE's Frostbite 3 engine.
The Battlefield series which is famous for its multiplayer game design, EA decided to include the basics of the series and focus on a single-player campaign. Although this could be a change in the series but EA has ensured a better gaming experience despite its single-player mode. Gamers will be able to direct squads, drive vehicles in the campaign and play through vast environments. The seventeen minute video seemed impressive despite the change in the game.
The trailer starts off as the player - Recker - realizes being trapped in a sinking car with his three squad mates. As EA promised a more "human, dramatic and believable" experience begins here. Then the video continues as it shows how these soldiers ended up in a sinking truck. Taking through the flash back, the game features some exceptional visual effects as the soldiers combat their way through fighting the Russian militants with explosions and gunfights. The video also featured some instructions with which it could be concluded that it was a PC version of the game.
In an official description of the video by EA, in a press release, the game features efforts of team work and commanding the squad in different locations with the best art and designs courtesy Frostbite 3. EA did not describe much about the latest technology used in the game.
"We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm," Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President, EA Games Label, said in a statement. "To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward. Today's demo was just the beginning -- we have so much more in store."
Soderlund further continued about taking the gaming experience to whole new level by "creating a dynamic, open design that brings people together with amazing, surprising unscripted moments that they'll talk about for days. That's the beauty of Battlefield."
