The next-generation console wars are in full swing. Microsoft's Xbox One is due to hit store shelves later this month on Nov. 22, meanwhile Sony's PlayStation 4 will be launching a few days before that on Nov. 15 in the U.S. (Nov. 29 for Europe). In anticipation for the release of its new console in ten days, Sony has launched four new sizzle reel videos to advertise the device. They can be found via IGN below.
The first of the videos focuses heavily on the games aspect of the PlayStation 4. In a world where next-gen connectivity is being touted as being all about creating a multi media entertainment service contained to one's living room, many have complained that the gaming aspect of these devices is falling by the wayside. This reel is clearly Sony and PlayStation showing off that they haven't forgotten about the gaming experience with titles like "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag," "Battlefield 4," Fifa 2014" and "Watch Dogs."
Following that trend, the next video is shot more documentary "talking head" style by allowing some of the key characters from the development process of these games have a chance to talk about what the new technology behind the PlayStation 4 allows them to do with their storytelling.
From there the commercials stick to the new theme of showcasing what the technology can do by offering users a fast-paced yet in-depth look at how the new DualShock 4 controller works complete with its trackpad, built-in speakers and the record and share quick-button.
The final video goes on to outline how Remote Play between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
The ads run between 1 and 2 minutes long and can be found HERE via IGN. Comment and share your thoughts on the console wars this year with us below. Which one will be gracing your living room this Christmas?
