To help "spice up" her sophisticated style, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has reportedly chosen a close friend to act as a "secret" personal stylist, Grazia magazine reports.
Emilia Jardine-Paterson, one of Prince George's new godparents, has reportedly becoming an increasingly important figure in Middleton's life, especially when it comes to her fashion choices, even influencing her to wear the cream-colored Alexander McQueen ensemble she donned during her son's christening last month.
"Kate admires Emilia's style," a source told Grazia. "Kate always uses her as a sounding board. Emilia is trying to move Kate away from the Middleton neutral palate and push her towards color or pattern. Emilia loves vintage and tries to get Kate to be a bit more quirky. When they were at school she used to tease Kate about her prim Jigsaw shirts and hated those fur gilets Kate wore."
Jardine-Paterson, 31, allegedly nicknamed "Emilia de Lankypants," has been friends with Middleton since the two were 13. It's fitting that she is likely helping out the already fashion-conscious Middleton when it comes to her choice of outfits during public appearances, as Jardine-Paterson runs an interior design business and has been reported to have helped the Duke and Duchess design and decorate their new Kensington Palace residence, Apartment 1A.
Along with being a childhood friend of Middleton's, Jardine-Paterson's husband, David, was a friend of Prince William's at Eton, and his brother even once dated Pippa Middleton.
"Emilia has become an integral part of Kate and William's life," said the insider, "so she was an obvious choice to guide George in his future."
