Google has launched a new service called " Google Helpouts" to offer a step-by-step guidance and lessons through live video.
Google Search is one of the commonly used search engine for any information needed thus the saying "Google it!" Not surprising at all because when you think of any question, you can type it on the search bar, click on "Google Search," and voila! In just a snap, you'll get hundreds of answers and sites offering a response to your question.
Now, Google has created a new service to help its users with difficult questions which requires steps. It is like watching a How-to video on YouTube, however, with Google Helpouts, users will get to talk to someone on live video.
In the new search service, users can directly talk to someone who is expert on what they want to know and can help them do tasks step by step. Users can assure that these experts are no bogus because they were recruited and screened when Google started looking for partners who want to offer help.
There are eight different categories in Helpouts, (1) Arts & Music, (2) Computer & Electronics, (3) Cooking, (4) Education & Careers, (5) Fashion & Beauty, (6) Fitness & Nutrition, (7) Health, and (8) Home & Garden.
With Helpouts, "Our goal is simple: help people help each other," said Udi Manber, Vice President of engineering, in a blog post. "We want to use the convenience and efficiency of the Web to enable everyone, no matter where they are or what time it is, to easily connect with someone who can help."
Though the idea seems promising, not every answer to the question will be free. A 20 percent transaction fee is charged on those who do not offer their teachings for free. Google clarified that the fee covers Helpouts marketing, cost of providing a 100% Money Back Guarantee, credit card fees, and general platform costs.
TakeLessons is a company that offers online and in-person lesson in music, tutoring and performing arts and is one of the participants in Helpouts. Other participants are One Medical, Sephora, The Home Depot Redbeacon, Weight Watchers, and Rosetta Stone.
