It was previously reported that season two of Marvel's hit Netflix series "Daredevil" would be released on March 25, the same day as Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Unfortunately, that is not actually the case, as Netflix has refuted that earlier report. The good news, though, is that the new season will actually be arriving one week earlier on March 18.
Netflix has released the first teaser for the sophomore campaign of "Daredevil" and it is ominous to say the least. Check it out below.
All of the dark moments from "Daredevil's" first season are revisited here with an explosive ending that hints at Jon Bernthal's Punisher. While it doesn't reveal anything about season two, it certainly sets a distinct tone. Glad to see "Daredevil" won't be shying away from the almost gothic feel.
On top of the teaser and official release date, Marvel and Netflix also released the first synopsis for season two, focusing on the additions of Punisher and Elodie Yung's Elektra.
"Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell's Kitchen," it reads. "Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame - Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt's neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt mus balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero."
We've known that Castle and Elektra would be major components of season two, so this synopsis doesn't offer a ton of new information. But Matt's "life-altering choice" certainly caused our ears to perk up a bit.
Season two of "Daredevil" will become available for streaming on Netflix on March 18.
