Aaron Hernandez Fiancee: Judge Rules Shayanna Jenkins Perjury Charge Must Be Specified Or Risk Case Being Dismissed

Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancée of Aaron Hernandez, appeared in court again on Wednesday to face her perjury charge. A judge ruled the Commonwealth has until Dec. 2 to specify how Jenkins allegedly perjured herself, CBS Boston and the Associated Press report.

A Massachusetts grand jury indicted Jenkins in September on one count of perjury related to her testimony during the Odin Lloyd murder investigation; she was formally arraigned on the charge in October.

She pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance.

When Jenkins appeared in court again on Wednesday, her attorney asked the Commonwealth to specify where exactly Jenkins supposedly perjured herself in the 200-page grand jury testimony.

Fall River Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh ruled the prosecution has until Dec. 2 to provide the defense with more specific details about where Jenkins allegedly lied in her testimony.

Jenkins is due back in court on Jan. 6.

The prosecution believes Jenkins, at the request of Hernandez, destroyed evidence. Prosecutors have video footage of Jenkins carrying a box in a trash bag, which they believe may have contained the weapon used to kill Lloyd, to her vehicle. When Jenkins returned later in the day, the bag was no longer in her trunk.

In her testimony, Jenkins claimed she couldn't remember where she disposed of the trash bag. She was granted immunity prior to testifying before the grand jury.

Jenkins' attorney argued there is no evidence to support the claim that Jenkins lied during her testimony.

The .45 caliber pistol believed to have been used to murder the semi-pro football player hasn't yet been recovered.
