The Miami Dolphins have hired Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase as their next head coach, according to the Dolphins' team Twitter account. "Welcome to Miami, Adam Gase!" the Dolphins released in a tweet, which can be seen below.
On Saturday morning, reports of the two finalizing a deal continued to roll out, as he was the only coaching candidate to be called back for a second interview. The coveted coaching candidate has reportedly finalized a five-year contract with the Dolphins. Gase now becomes the youngest head coach in the NFL at 37 years old. The former Bears offensive coordinator has experience with two talented quarterbacks, with Peyton Manning in Denver and Jay Cutler in Chicago, and many will want to see how Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill improves on the field in 2016.
The Dolphins have not made the playoffs since 2008 but clearly have talented playmakers on their roster. Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph is expected to become his defensive coordinator in Miami, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.
The Dolphins are expected to have Gase's introductory press conference on Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern time. The Dolphins have already made a ton of front offices changes this offseason, including hiring a new general manager in Chris Grier, and they now can focus on player personnel and building the team for the 2016 NFL season.
