Smartwatch maker Pebble has rolled out its latest update to include support for notifications via Apple iOS7. The watch maker has also introduced the 2.0 version of software development kit to bring more apps and it also allows access to four new programming interfaces.
Smart watches are the latest trend setters. Several companies including tech giant Samsung and Sony have introduced smartwatches to woo the customers. Amid the fiercely competitive smart watch race, a startup recently launched its first wearable tech gadget, the Pebble smart watch. Initially released via crowd funding platform Kickstarter, the company raised record-setting funding last year. Since then the company has grown enormously and has shipped nearly 200,000 units.
While success trails hard work, it requires more efforts to sustain the fame. Pebble is doing just the thing to keep up its audience engaged and happy a it pushes the sales further. The company announced Wednesday the full integration of its smartwatch with iOS7 mobile platform. This means Pebble users will be able to receive notifications on their smartwatch.
"This includes notifications beyond calls, texts, and emails, such as Calendar, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Flickr, Dropbox, WhatsApp, Flipboard, and more," Pebble's Eric Migicovsky said in a blog post, Wednesday.
Besides the iOS7 integration, the company has also launched its second version of software development kit (SDK) to make it easier for developers to build more Pebble-compatible applications. The SDK 2.0 also includes support for four new programming interfaces for developers including Javascript, Accelerometer, Data Logging, and Persistent Storage, Migicovsky said.
Migicovsky also highlighted the company's future in bringing "amazing" apps for its smart watch. To make that possible, Pebble has also partnered with Foursquare, Yelp, GoPro and iControl.
The Pebble smart watch can be ordered online for $150. The company offers worldwide shipping within 5-7 days. Make the best of the offer while it lasts.
