Tracey Thompson chose to act as the surrogate mother for her daughter, Kelley McKissack, and gave birth to her own grandchild on Jan. 6, as her daughter had difficulties in carrying her fetuses successfully and delivering children in previous pregnancies. Thompson, a native of Wylie, Texas, gave birth to her grandchild, whom she had been carrying in her womb for the past nine months, last week, according to the Dallas Fortworth CBS 11 News.
Aoron and Kelley McKissack were trying to have a baby naturally for some time now. Kelley had conceived several times, but had not been able to see the pregnancies through to a successful conclusion. They suffered miscarriages three times in the past. Therefore, they chose to explore ways in which they could successfully have a child of their own, according to People Magazine.
Thompson saw her daughter explore a number of infertility treatment options, but none of them worked out. It was at this point that Thompson decided that she should perhaps try helping out the childless couple. So she volunteered to have the in vitro-fertilized embryo planted in her womb in April of last year, and carried the fetus until the time it was fully developed.
Thompson was able to carry the baby through and act as a surrogate mother despite being nearly 7 years past menopause.
Thompson said she was very nervous when she was carrying the child - as she wanted to ensure a completely successful pregnancy for her daughter's family. The grandchild that was born on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at the Medical Center of Plano was a girl. She was named Kelcey, a name made up of the names of her mother and her grandmother, according to Hello Magazine.
