Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is the star in yet another video released by the Toronto Sun on Thursday which shows Ford yelling in an intoxicated rage that he wants an unknown person "dead," according to the Associated Press.
The latest video posted on the Sun's website shows the Mayor in a rage, using words like "kill" and "murder." The incident is just one more link in the already bizarre chain of events Ford has been involved in, the AP reported.
Moments after the newspaper released the video online, Ford told reporters, who have besieged him inside his second floor Toronto office since he admitted to smoking crack last week, he was "extremely, extremely inebriated" in the video and is embarrassed, according to the AP.
Dennis Morris, Ford's lawyer, told the AP the context of the video "is skeletal," adding that information about when the video was filmed needs to be investigated.
"Was it taken eight, 10 months ago or a short time ago? I'm going to try to find that out too," he said. "Maybe the Toronto Star knows better."
The video emerged a week after Toronto police announced they obtained a video which shows Ford smoking crack from a glass bowl, yet claim the video is not enough to charge the mayor, the AP reported.
In a statement on Thursday, Ford once again admitted to making mistakes, stating all he could do was "reassure the people."
"I don't know what to say," he told reporters.
Photographs also show Ford blowing kisses to reporters on Wednesday while he gave school kids a tour of his office for Take Your Kids To Work Day, enticing more anger from those who want him to step down.
"When you are in that state ... I hope none of you have ever or will ever be in that state, it's extremely embarrassing," Ford said. "The whole world is going to see it."
At one point in the new video, Ford said he'll "make sure" the unknown person is "dead," speaking to an unknown person who is filming.
"Cause I'm going to kill that (expletive) guy," Ford said . "No hold barred brother. He dies or I die."
Morris said Thursday he was trying to set up a viewing of the tape which allegedly shows the mayor smoking crack with police officials, the AP reported.
As Ford continues to lose support and good graces, City Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong, a member of Ford's executive committee, said he will continue to push for the motion he filed last week asking Ford to take a leave of absence, according to the AP. The amendment asks the province of Ontario to pass a legislation that will allow the removal of the mayor if he denies the leave of absence.
