"The Walking Dead" actress Danai Gurira and Kat Graham of "The Vampire Diaries" fame have joined the cast of the Tupac biopic "All Eyez On Me," according to Entertainment Weekly.
Gurira, best known for playing the role of Michonne on the hit AMC series, has been signed on to play Tupac Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur. As for Graham, she has been tapped to play Jada Pinkett Smith, who was Shakur's close friend before he was fatally shot in 1996.
Gurira and Graham join newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr., who was confirmed as the film's lead as Tupac last month and Jamal Woolard, who has been cast in the biopic as The Notorious B.I.G., a.k.a. Biggie Smalls. Benny Boom stepped in to replace Carl Franklin and John Singleton as the director of the Morgan Creek film.
"All Eyez On Me" gets its title from Tupac Shakur's fourth studio album and "chronicles the life and legacy of Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip-hop artist and actor, his imprisonment and his time at Death Row Records," according to Variety.
Morgan Creek Productions' James G. Robinson and David Robinson are teaming up with LT Hutton to produce the project. Afeni Shakur will serve as the executive producer of the film, and Open Road will handle the distribution.
