Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Dez Bryant Injury ‘A Significant Deal’; May Be Suffering From Herniated Disc, Status For Saints Uncertain

Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was a limited participant at practice on Thursday but vowed to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Despite his optimism, several sources close to Bryant are concerned the injury is more serious than he's letting on, FOX Sports Southwest reports.

"...Sources close to the Cowboys standout tell FOX Sports Southwest that there are concerns he is suffering from a bulging or herniated disc in his back and that measures being taken to treat the ailment go far beyond 'precautionary,'" Mike Fisher of FOX Sports wrote on Thursday.

Bryant missed practice on Wednesday. He moved "gingerly" through the jog-through during Thursday's practice before sitting out for the full-speed portion of practice. He's had back problems before and has missed a small number of snaps this season with "tightness" in his back and "back spasms."

Although a herniated and a bulging disc are different, they have similar treatment options: "Traction, electrical slim, heat and rest," according to FOX Sports.

Still, FOX Sports' sources believe the injury could be significant enough to sideline Bryant.

Bryant, however, appears set to play through the injury and not miss any time.

"C'mon, you know I'm going to play," Bryant said, via FOX Sports.

If Bryant's back injury is a serious issue, the Cowboys aren't letting on.

"It's bothering him a little bit off and on," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told reporters. "We don't think it's a significant deal."

Bryant sidelined for any amount of time would be a huge loss for the Cowboys' offense. He has 51 receptions on 88 targets for 705 yards and eight touchdowns so far this season.

Dallas (5-4) visits New Orleans on Sunday. Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
