Mulder and Scully are back, but they have no clue what a smartphone is. "The X-Files" stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who played Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on the hit television series, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night to tease the upcoming return of the show in a hilarious parody.
The parody opens up with Duchovny and Anderson's "The X-Files" characters walking into a dark basement where they are introduced to Kimmel's Agent Kieth, they're new partner.
Anderson did not think that the pair needed a third person and decided to get out her antenna phone to dial her boos up. Duchovny then asked the late night host where the nearest pay phone was before Kimmel handed him his smartphone.
Times have changed since the last time "The X-Files" was on TV, something that Kimmel made aware to Duchovny and Anderson.
"Do people still like us?" Anderson asked when she was informed that was not the 1990s anymore.
"Oh yeah, of course," Kimmel says. "We loved you then, and we love you now. And even if coming back turns out to be a bad idea - like a really, really bad idea that makes everyone hate you - we'll still always have the '90s."
"Also, you two should have sex," Kimmel added. "It's been like 23 years. Everybody knows."
