Reports of Jimmy Fallon having a drinking problem reached a fever pitch in the fall after he sustained his third injury in four months. NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt addressed the speculation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday.
One reporter asked Greenblatt if renewing "Late Night" host Seth Meyers' contract through 2021 was an insurance policy in response to Fallon's string of accident, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Jimmy is going to be fine for many years to come," the NBC chief said. "I often say Jimmy is going to be there longer than me and many of you in your jobs."
Following the panel, Greenblatt was asked more directly about Fallon's possible drinking problem.
"He doesn't have a drinking problem that any of us know about. He goes out and has fun and he's had some accidents," he told a small group of reporters (via The Hollywood Reporter). "We are always worried about his safety and health and yeah, there's been coversations about that, [but] the stories are exaggerated about all of it."
"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" has dominated the late-night competition in the ratings and scored the first interviews with top politicos like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
