One of the easiest comfort foods to prepare in the kitchen is homemade potato chips, and there's no need to own a deep fryer for these recipes. You won't be using any oil to cook this, too, which makes snacking on potato chips a lot healthier.
Cooking with oil, particularly vegetable oil, is linked with diseases like cancer, heart problems and dementia. A typical dish fried in vegetable could contain 200 times more aldehydes than the amount that is considered safe, according to Medical Daily.
While there are healthier alternatives like olive oil, it might be no good to use this for frying at high temperatures because it will emit too much smoke, The Telegraph noted.
Here are three simple ways to prepare homemade potato chips without oil:
Ingredients:
1 large russet potato, washed and cut thin (about 1/4 inch)
Salt and pepper to taste

In the conventional oven: Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and then line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Line the potatoes in a single layer and then sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, depending on the thickness, on each side.
In the toaster oven: The difference between cooking homemade potato chips in an oven and a toaster oven is that there is no preheating needed with a toaster and you won't have to cook for 40 minutes or so. Put foil on the toaster tray and then line the potatoes and season as per usual. Switch the toaster on and let it cook for 15-20 minutes.
In the microwave: This is the quickest way to do homemade potato chips, as cooking time is really short. Line the potato on a glass container with parchment paper and then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook in the microwave for three to seven minutes, depending on thickness.
The potatoes should turn into crispy golden goodness when cooked right.
