In a couple weeks the merry-go-round of Ziva fill-ins will come to an end with Emily Wickersham’s Elle Bishop.
One of those fill-ins was no stranger to helping Gibbs and the gang out, CGIS Agent Borin (Diane Neal). If you’re worried about the departure of Borin once Bishop steps into her role as Ziva’s permanent replacement, showrunner Gary Glasberg has some good news for you.
“I really appreciate the fact that everyone responds so well to the guest stars that come in, and Diane Neal is more than that — she’s a part of this family, and we will continue to use her,” Glasberg said according to TVLine. “To have her come back is super-important, and we’ll continue to do that.”
Last week CBS posted a press release on its website announcing Emily Wickersham had been brought on as a series regular. She was originally only signed on for a few episodes since the “NCIS” team wanted to test her our as de Pablo’s replacement. Her first appearance will be during the Nov. 19 episode. In the episode, Gibbs and the team will discover someone bugged the Secretary of the Navy during a confidential briefing. As it turns out, Bishop outlined the security breach two years ago—exactly as it would happen. She will work with Gibbs and the team to find out who is responsible.
If you’re looking for Bishop to be anything like Ziva (Cote de Pablo), that’s not going to happen.
“She possesses an interesting mind, an intellectual, smart way to approach doing what this team does — not with kicks and punches and knocking down doors but by really thinking,” Glasberg said of Bishop according to the press release. “She’s very much a thinker.”
