Apple's successful wearable smart device, the Apple Watch, might be set for an upgrade soon, as rumors have started circulating that the Cupertino giant is preparing to launch the second iteration of the popular device in early 2016, possibly around March, according to The Mirror.
Though Apple has remained mum about the release date of the Apple Watch 2, introducing the device early in the year does seem to make a lot of sense, especially since Apple usually launches its flagship devices, such as the iPhone and the iPad, during the second half of the year.
Fueling the rumor further is a report by a Chinese publication, the Commercial Times, which alleged that Quanta, the company which manufactures the Apple Watch, is set to begin the trial production of the Apple Watch 2 in January, reports The Comment.
Quanta's chairman has also stated back in November that the second iteration of Apple's smartwatch is set for an "end of Q2 2016" release time frame.
Following the success of the company's first smartwatch, the Apple Watch 2 is undoubtedly one of the tech giant's most anticipated devices. Rumors have been speculating about a number of possible features and upgrades that would probably be included in Apple's next wearable device, including the inclusion of a FaceTime camera and improved battery life, according to Computer World.
Other features that are rumored for the new device would be waterproofing, the ability to use the Apple Watch 2 without being tethered to an iPhone, and the use of other premium materials such as titanium, tungsten, and palladium and platinum, to name a few.
