The cast of the "Harry Potter" films and the rest of Hollywood are mourning the loss of British actor Alan Rickman after he passed away from cancer Thursday at the age of 69, as HNGN previously reported. Rickman was best known for his role as Professor Severus Snape in all eight "Harry Potter" films, as well as movies like "Die Hard" and "Love Actually."
When the news broke about the passing of Rickman, his co-stars, as well as others, all took to their social media accounts to pay their respects to the late actor. "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling was one of the first people to pay tribute to Rickman in a series of tweets.
"There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman's death. He was a magnificent actor & a wonderful man," Rowling wrote.
"My thoughts are with Rima and the rest of Alan's family. We have all lost a great talent. They have lost part of their hearts," she continued.
Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, wrote a beautiful tribute to the actor on his Google+ account, where he remembered Rickman as "one of the greatest actors I will ever work with."
"He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I've ever met in the film industry," Radcliffe wrote. "He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that. I know other people who've been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say 'if you call Alan, it doesn't matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he's doing, he'll get back to you within a day.'"

Alan Rickman. Amazing actor and director. Above all the most generous, funny, loving friend to Deb and I. We will miss you so.
