New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski Seeks Knee Treatment At Hospital, But Expected To Play Against Chiefs, Per Reports

The New England Patriots are likely to enjoy the services of All Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski this weekend as they set to square off against the Kansas City Chiefs in their divisional round playoff game. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, while Gronkowski missed Pats practice on Thursday, the expectation is that he'll be able to suit up this weekend. And with the Pats missing so many weapons on offense and not certain to get a full-speed Julian Edelman back in time for Saturday, that's big news for quarterback Tom Brady and for fans in New England.

Unfortunately, Gronk's status isn't really that clear cut.

ESPN's Mike Reiss and Adam Schefter reported late Thursday that Gronkowski actually spent part of the day in "a Boston hospital getting treatment on his injured right knee which included an injection."

Reiss and Schefter reiterated that the belief is Gronkowski will go against the Chiefs, but the fact that the big pass-catcher required an injection certainly has to be troubling to Patriots faithful.

Gronkowski suffered the injury during a game against the Denver Broncos on Nov. 29. Gronk missed the follow game, but returned against the Houston Texans and has been in the Patriots lineup since.
