The Mississippi State Bulldogs play the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday in an SEC college football showdown. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE.
Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel added another eye-opening performance to his resume last Saturday against UTEP. In the 57-7 Aggies rout, Manziel went 16 of 24 for 273 yards and four touchdowns; he added 67 yards and two scores on the ground. Manziel now has a 72.5 completion percentage, 2,867 yards and 26 touchdowns, while rushing for 568 yards and eight touchdowns.
"He's playing football and doing what he likes to do," Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin said, via ESPN. "I've had a number of questions (this week) comparing where he is now compared to where he was last year, and obviously he's playing better."
While Manziel continues to make his case for the Heisman Trophy, A&M is struggling to remain in contention for an appearance at the National championship.
A&M has won nine straight home games. The Aggies' (7-2, 3-2 SEC) only two losses of the season came from Alabama and Auburn, both SEC games. The Aggies need to avoid losing another conference game when they meet the 4-4 Bulldogs on Kyle Field.
Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott is another dual-threat quarterback who poses headaches for defensive coordinators. Prescott has completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 1,393 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions; he also leads the team in rushing yards with 568 yards to go along with 10 touchdowns.
Prescott, however, is returning to the team after the death of his mother.
"That's a difficult situation for anyone, especially a young man of his age," said Sumlin. "He certainly has given them a different element. He's a big strong guy that can throw it and just run through people."
