Fans were surprised to see Jennifer Lawrence sporting a new blonde pixie cut earlier this week, and recently the 23-year-old actress revealed why she decided to chop off her long locks, the Huffington Post reports.
During an interview with Yahoo! on Thursday, Lawrence explained her reasoning: "I don't know, I cut it earlier, and it was just kind of like [shoulder-length] and it grew to that awkward, gross length, and I just kept putting it back in a bun, and I said, 'Well I don't want to do this,' so I just cut it off."
The "gross length" Lawrence is referring to was her wavy bob that she debuted a wavy bob at the GLAAD Awards back in March, a "totally spontaneous" decision at the time according to hairstylist Mark Townsend that wasn't done for any movie role. Though Lawrence may no longer be a fan of the previous style, fans and celebrities like Miley Cyrus loved it.
Currently Lawrence is rumored to be filming the next film in "The Hunger Games" series, the first part of "Mockingjay," and she'll likely have to sport a wig to play long-haired Katniss Everdeen.
While many fans have expressed their approval of Lawrence's new hairstyle, others have written that her new 'do ages her a bit, putting her more into the Kate Gosselin territory.
The Academy Award-winning actresses's latest film, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," his theaters Nov. 22.
