One of the bigger mysteries surrounding this season of “The Vampire Diaries” is Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) current situation. She’s literally falling apart and has recruited Dr. Maxfield to find ou why.
According to EOnline, Dobrev hinted at another possible mystery surrounding Katherine—the identity of the man she loves.
"Of course, there is that lingering love for one of the brothers that we learn more about as episodes progress," Dobrev said according to the website. "But she does love one of the brothers…and we see that unfold."
It’s interesting that Dobrev doesn’t just say Stefan (Paul Wesley) is that brother because she’s revealed before that Stefan is the one she loved. In fact, according to Tessa (Janina Gavanka) Katherine has no choice but to love Stefan because of the doppelganger curse. Since Dobrev provides a little mystery by saying “one of the brothers”, is it possible Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is the Salvatore brother she loves?
In last week’s episode it was revealed Tessa made Amara (also played by Dobrev) the anchor to the other side. Ironically, Amara, who Silas (also played by Wesley) was attempting to save, attacked him and drank his blood for the cure.
In next week’s episode Damon and the gang must deal with the Amara. (By the way, shoutout to Nina Dobrev for playing three characters.) According to the preview for this week’s episode, Stefan has his memories back and he has one mission—to kill Silas. Also, Bonnie (Kat Graham) realizes that she can actually feel Amara.
