A New York City taxi slammed into the side of a truck which crashed into the sidewalk Monday, leaving one dead and four injured.
According to the New York Daily News, a 65-year-old woman died and four other people sustained serious injuries once the cab struck the box truck at about 12:50 p.m. in Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Police said that witnesses informed them the truck had the light on Park Ave. and E. 102nd St. when the cab T-boned the truck, which flew onto the sidewalk and hit a woman walking by.
The five were transported to Mount Sinai and Cornell University hospitals, but the 65-year-old woman whose name has not yet been released died as a result of her injuries.
Two of the passengers in the taxi were reportedly in critical condition as of 3 p.m. EST. A third person believed to be the taxi driver was also in critical condition and two of the other victims received treatments that haven't been publicized, ABC News reported.
