Foxconn Technology Group To Manufacture Google Glasses in U.S.

Google's latest tech invention of improved reality spectacles will be manufactured by the Taiwan-based company, Foxconn Technology Group, in the U.S., according to a CNet news report.

Google Glass, the much-hyped reality specs is Google's biggest invention that transforms science fiction into reality. A recent news report from CNet and Financial Times said that the Google designed glasses will be manufactured by the Foxconn group with a "Made in U.S.A" label. Foxconn is the world's largest manufacturer of electronic equipments and also a chief producer of Apple's iPhones, iPads and iPods.

Foxconn, otherwise known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, had expressed its desire to expand its manufacturing operations in the United States due to the high demand for products with the U.S.A label, according to a Bloomberg report last December.

Google has been promoting its high-tech gadget on a vast scale, which claims to be the next generation of mobile computing. It features a camera and voice commands with internet connection. A small display project in front of the right eye displays content relevant to the search.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin demonstrated the specs during the Google I/O presentation held last summer in San Francisco, California. The glass was worn by fashion designers, skydivers, acrobats and pilots, who displayed the video recording quality and their view point was streamed live on a large screen.

Google will be sending out its initial units to 8,000 winners who were given an opportunity to buy the glass for $1,500. Google will start sales of the high-tech specs most likely by the end of the year or early 2014 for less than $1,500, according to CNet news report.

Booth Google and Foxconn spokespersons declined to comment on the matter and Google said that the company "does not comment on rumor speculation," in a response to a CNet reporter.
