Marvel's burgeoning Netflix empire includes "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," the upcoming "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," The Defenders" and even a possible Punisher spinoff. The one constant running through all these different projects is Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple.
Temple, AKA Night Nurse, stitched up Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock during the first season of "Daredevil" and lent a helping hand towards the end of "Jessica Jones." Now, she figures to have another strong role in "Luke Cage."
"She's going to serve a very significant part of the Luke Cage story," star Mike Colter told IGN. "Not overwhelmingly so, but you will definitely be satisfied with the amount of screen time you see...I can't speak to episode count, but you're definitely going to see her. She's definitely going to be someone that's going to have a large storyline and help out a lot."
Temple saved Cage's life in the final episode of "Jessica Jones," so the two characters are somewhat familiar with one another already. However, it's unknown what her role in "Luke Cage" will entail. So far, Dawson has done a great job as the bridge character in the Marvel universe on Netflix between all the individual shows. In fact, Sonia Braga was recently cast as Claire's mother, hinting that an expanded backstory may be coming in "Luke Cage." That's welcome news for fans of her strong character.
Unfortunately, it is still unknown when "Luke Cage" will be available for streaming, though it is expected to hit Netflix by the end of 2016. Hopefully, we'll get more of Dawson in "Daredevil's" upcoming second season to hold us over.
