"American Horror Story: Coven" will get a visit from the Original White Witch herself, singer Stevie Nicks in a future episode.
Show creator Ryan Murphy tweeted on Tuesday confirming Nicks appearance on the show this season.
Lily Rabe's character Misty Day references Nicks while listening to her music early on in the show. In a scene where Zoe Benson (Taissa Farmiga) brings Kit Walker (Evan Peters) back from the dead, Misty stumbles upon the teens and takes then back to her hideout in a swampy area of New Orleans. Day then goes on a tangent about Nicks and her bewitching lyrics as she reassures Zoe she will heal Kit's wounds.
"When we got to this witch idea, I thought, if you're Misty and you have grown up alone and you don't know any other witches, there's one witch you probably would know and that's Stevie Nicks," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. "So I called Stevie Nicks and first I said, 'I want to use you in the show.' But she was very resistant because from the beginning of her career people who are in the Wiccan community had given her a hard time thinking she was a witch and she got a lot of scary fan letters. She didn't like the darkness of that, and I explained to her the part and she's like, 'Aw f-, let's just do it. OK, I love it.'"
In an interview with Vulture, Rabe talks about her character's obsession with the music legend:
"Well, I'm pretty obsessed with her, too. It's been delicious. It's not that Misty just wants to look like Stevie or listen to her music. She's quite isolated and lonely, and she has this love affair with Stevie," Rabe said. "Stevie is her idol and the lyrics are her mantras that she lives by. She's looking for someone to help her understand why she is the way she is, so in that way her soul is nourished by Stevie. It's not a superficial obsession, it's a deep love. And yes, you will see some shawls."
"American Horror Story: Coven" airs on FX on Wednesday at 10 p.m.
