Montana Woman Who Allegedly Pushed Newlywed Husband Off a Cliff Blindfolded Him Beforehand, Prosecution Says

A Montana woman has been accused of blindfolding her husband before pushing him off of a cliff at the Glacier National Park in July.

According to CBS affiliate KXLH, new documents filed in court indicated that Jordan Linn Graham, who was married to her husband Cody Johnson for eight days prior to his death, wrapped a piece of cloth around his face before allegedly shoving him off the ledge.

Defense attorneys in court on Monday disclosed that prosecutors are currently waiting for answers from a DNA testing lab to see whether a piece of cloth found on a sandbar in the river near the spot where Johnson's remains were found was tied around the deceased's face prior to his death.

Graham has been charged with first degree murder, along with charges that she lied to authorities when they asked her for details on Johnson's whereabouts. If the DNA comes back as a positive match with Johnson, prosecutors' claims of premeditation could be proved.

But Graham's defense team has said that if the cloth is linked to Johnson, they demand to know if the "blindfold theory" wasn't submitted to the grand jury and why it was never mentioned in the charging documents, KXLH reported.

They're also requesting that the judge drop the first degree murder charge since law enforcement officials reportedly did not log an hour and a half's worth of interrogation during her initial questioning. They have additionally stated that investigators manipulated her statements.

A hearing for the case has been scheduled for November 27. The trial is slated to begin next month.
