McG In Talks To Helm ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Reboot

Sony Pictures is reportedly eyeing McG ("Terminator: Salvation") to direct their "Masters of the Universe" reboot based on the 1980s Mattell toy line, according to ComicBook.com.

The film, like the original, will center on protagonist He-Man, secretly Prince Adam of Eternia, and his nemesis Skeletor.

The fantasy toy line was made even more popular by an accompany cartoon that tracked He-Man through his adventures and battles with evil foes. Dolph Lundgren ("Rocky IV") first took on the titular role in the 1987 film adaptation with Frank Langella ("Frost/Nixon") playing Skeletor.

In addition to "Terminator Salvation," McG helmed the "Charlie's Angels" franchise from the early 2000s as well as the football movie "We Are Marshall" with Matthew McConaughey. The new "Masters of the Universe" script comes from Alex Litvak and Mike Finch.
