Just one day after Celine Dion said farewell to the love of her life, husband Rene Angelil, at his funeral, she had to mourn the loss of her brother at his own memorial service.
On Saturday, Dion joined her family at a funeral home outside of Monreal in Repentigny, Canada to mourn her older brother Daniel Dion, according to People. Tribute was paid at Salon Charles Rajotte during one afternoon session and one night session.
As the family gathered at the funeral home, they sang together to honor Daniel, who was a singer just like his sister, according to E! News. Dozens of people gathered outside to offer their condolences and when Celine left in a vehicle, she rolled down the window and thanked several of them.
Daniel, who was 59, died of cancer on Saturday, Jan. 16, as HNGN previously reported. He passed just two days after Celine's husband, who was the father of her three children, died from his own battle with cancer.
"It's very painful. It's a matter of days or hours," their sister Claudette told the Journal of Montreal prior to his death. "It looks a lot like Rene, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain. Our family is very experienced."
Daniel will be buried at Saints-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne on Monday, Jan. 25, according to CTV News Montreal. They also added that Angelil will be buried in the Cote-des-Neiges cemetery in Montreal.
