A Maryland woman was arrested on Tuesday night, after a bar fight near the state's South Parkway led to the death of the other person involved in the scuffle.
According to a report from the Las Vegas Sun, 22-year-old Sarah Chavez was taken into police custody, after law enforcement officers received calls concerning a loud fight in the parking lot of Champagnes Café, located at 3557 South Maryland Parkway. Officials arrived at the scene a little bit after 11 p.m., and found one woman who had sustained stab wounds while another woman was being physically held back by an employee of the bar.
Emergency medical response teams rushed the injured woman to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
Chavez, the other woman involved in the fight, was arrested on a murder charge, and sent to the Clark County Detention Center.
Investigators pieced together that Chavez and the deceased were fighting inside the bar, then eventually took the argument to the parking lot. As the scuffle progressed, one person tried to break it up, police told the Sun. But during the fight, the injured woman seemed to have somehow sustained stab wounds, which ultimately led to her death. The Clark County Coroner's Office said it will announce her name following an autopsy.
