Although she became a fan favorite while judging season 12 of "American Idol," Mariah Carey revealed during an interview with HOT 97 radio on Wednesday that she "hated" being on the show, especially as it meant she had to work "every day in hell with Satan," E! News reports.
"Honestly, I hated it," Carey said of role on the hit Fox show. "I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment, and I was just like, 'Okay. Randy Jackson will be there; I've known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn't a big deal. This will be nothing.' But it wasn't that. It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan."
"Satan" is likely a reference to her fellow former judge Nicki Minaj, whom the superstar singer infamously sparred with before and during the airing of season 12.
Although the two have previously collaborated together and were at one point on good terms, during the course of the show, they constantly bickered back and forth and got into some very heated arguments, including one of which that was not aired leaked to the media in the form of "secret footage", which Carey's huband, Nick Cannon, insisted was used by producers to generate buzz and viewer excitement.
Most recently, Minaj refueled their feud via a tweet to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, though the stars claimed to have made up back in January.
"What u SHOULD be doing (wit your messy ass) is asking why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter @perezhilton," Minaj wrote on the subject of Mariah Carey.
Carey did, however, insist to HOT 97 host Angie Martinez that despite having to deal with "Satan," she loved working the contestants on the show.
"Some of them that were so good—and also really good people, you could tell—it was disappointing when [the judges] would, for political reasons, not put people through," she said.
As for whether or not she'll return to television, Carey said that she likes "being in the studio better and going on [her] own tours, etc., so [she's] going back to that."
As for Nicki Minaj, she is currently at work on her third studio album, which is scheduled for a 2014 release, described by the rapper as "a continuation of 'The Re-Up' and a lot more" that will go back to her "hip-hop roots," according to Billboard.
