The Originals Episode 7 Recap: Rebekah and Marcel Plot Against Klaus; Davina and Josh Become Friends

Last night’s episode left the three Originals on three different sides. Here’s what you need to know about the three teams heading into next episode:

Team No. 1—Hayley and Elijah

As it turned out, it was Tyler (yup he’s here) that kidnapped Hayley, not Marcel. He wanted to test the theory that the blood of Hayley’s baby could produce new hybrids. He felt this was Klaus’ plan for the baby all along since all hybrid’s are automatically sired to Klaus. Tyler decided to test this theory on a werewolf. The first part of Tyler’s theory was correct. The werewolf became a hybrid. However, the second part of his theory seemed to have a glaring error. As Tyler went to kill the baby, figuring that was the only way to stop a hybrid army, the new hybrid stepped in to defend Hayley. When Hayley asked him to attack he did. (Tyler killed the new hybrid but Hayley escaped and Elijah found her.) So that begs the question, are the hybrids Hayley’s baby creates sired to Klaus, Hayley or her child? Hayley and Elijah eventually confront Klaus about this plan to create new hybrids that they assume he knew all along. He becomes upset that his brother would think this terribly of him and bites Elijah. Although the bite won’t kill him it will be quite annoying. Tyler had tied Hayley up in a house that’s located in an area of New Orleans where werewolves hide out. Apparently those werewolves are the remaining family of what was once werewolf royalty. They are marked by a cresent birthmark on their back, a birthmark which Hayley has. After Klaus left, Hayley and Elijah go back into the house where Elijah admits that although Klaus is a nuisance, he’s still family. Hayley leaves the house to find a family tree book that was left outside with a whole bunch of names and dates. When Hayley looks at the names and dates she sees a name next to her date of birth—Andrea Labonair. She concludes that she must be Andrea Labonair. She and Elijah have a mystery on their hands.

Team No. 2—Rebecca and Marcel

Rebecca almost takes Marcel’s head off when she arrived back in New Orleans. However, he explained to her that he was not the culprit of Hayley’s theft and had explained to her brothers as much. They then had this little “where is our relationship going” conversation that lead Marcel to show Rebekah “the garden.” You know, the one where he locks up the vampires that break his rules. He explains that he originally wanted to turn the garden into a place where he and Rebekah could grow old (really, really old) together. However when she and her family left, that went down the drain. Marcel and Rebekah want to be together but the only way that can happen is if Klaus is taken out of the picture. Rebekah explains to Marcel that killing Klaus would be the definition of suicide. (If you kill an original every person they turned dies.) So Marcel and Rebekah’s new mission? Take Klaus out of the picture without killing him.

Team No. 3—Klaus

Yup, Klaus is on his lonesome. He’s bitten Elijah. He asked Rebekah if Marcel is plotting against him and she said no. Tyler (who fought Klaus earlier in the episode but was left alive by the original hybrid) told Marcel that Klaus has a hybrid baby that can make more hybrids. Klaus, ladies and gentlemen, is on his own—again.

On a side note, Marcel found out that Josh was compelled by Klaus to spy on him. Instead of killing Josh, Marcel gives Josh to Davina so she can undo the compulsion and help Marcel use Josh against Klaus. Although the spell is very painful for Josh, he and Davina bond. She reveals that a coven of witches are trying to sacrifice her. He reveals that he’s gay and he used to be frequent clubber. Since they become such good friends, Davina ignores Marcel’s request to make Josh forget about her. They pinky swear that Josh will keep her secret.

“The Originals” airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
