LivingSocial Outage Continues For More Than 48 Hours

The mobile app as well the website for LivingSocial, the Washington-based daily deals company, is down for the last two days. There is no confirmation whether the services are back yet.

The LivingSocial consumers failed to access the offers on the site past Monday night and started venting their frustration on Twitter. The Amazon-backed daily deals company acknowledged the problem by Tuesday afternoon. "We are so sorry if you have had any problems with our site or mobile app.We are aware of the issues and are working hard to fix them," they posted a statement on their official blog.

The site is still not up after nearly 40 hours. One of the angry LivingSocial user, Chris Vos, posted on Twitter, "48 hours and counting. Did someone forget to pay the bill?

The company has assured the clients that it is doing its best to get the site going as soon as possible. "An internal error caused our website and mobile app to go down on Tuesday afternoon (EST). We were alerted immediately to the outage and have had teams working non-stop to resolve the issue," said LivingSocial, reports AllThingsD. "We have isolated the problem and will have the site up and running again as soon as possible."

Many of the LivingSocial users fear the prolonged shutdown may be due to hacking. However, LivingSocial has assured its consumers that the disruption is not due to any external threat and that none of the user details of the subscribers have been compromised. "There is nothing to indicate that this was the result of any external factors and there is nothing that leads us to think that any consumer or merchant data, or financial information has been compromised," said Sara Parker, a spokeswoman for LivingSocial.

The LivingSocial subscribers are scared as the site was hacked in April and user details of more than 50 million consumers were compromised The user details include names, e-mails, and also encrypted passwords of the clients, according to a recent post Geekwire.

The company expects the service to be back by Thursday. If any of the users wants to get in touch with LivingSocial, the company suggests calling its customer support department at 877-521-4191 while merchants should contact the company dialing 877-556-4078.
