Legendary actor Abe Vigoda has passed away. Vigoda, who starred in the iconic film "The Godfather" and the '80s sitcom "Barney Miller" died under hospice care on Tuesday, according to TMZ. He was 94 years old.
Vigoad's death had been falsely reported several times, starting as early as 1982, but the news has been confirmed by his daughter Carol Vigoda Fuchs. She told The Associated Press that he died peacefully this morning in his sleep, according to Fox Now. He had been staying at her home in Woodland Park, N.J., and she revealed that the cause of death was old age.
"This man was never sick," Fuchs said.
He is best known for his role as Tessio in "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II" and was still doing the voice for the character in the video games for the film as late as 2007. His leathery, sunken-eyed face made him ideal for this role, as well as his most famous role on television as Detective Phil Fish in "Barney Miller." He also was the grandfather in "Look Who's Talking."
He is survived by his daughter, Carol. He was married to Beatrice Schy from 1968 until 1992 when she passed away.
