What better way to play in the snow than make a viral video? Over 12 inches fell in New York over the weekend, but that hardly kept everyone inside. As the snowpocalypse converged on Manhattan, a couple of video creators chained up a jeep, acquired a towrope, and pulled vlogger Casey Neistat around the city on a snowboard. Oh, and they had several cameras rolling the entire time.
Made with GoPros, camera stabilizers and a drone, the video Neistat and co. (brother Dean and friends Jesse Wellens and Oscar Boyson) produced has officially gone viral, with over 9 million views as of Tuesday afternoon.
The video depicts the gang pulling Neistat around the city, exchanging "woos" with fellow Manhattanites, and even rolling through Times Square carrying an American flag Paul Revere-style.
The clip concludes with a visit from the NYPD, who ordered the streets to be clear of vehicles Saturday afternoon. The officers can be heard saying "Someone complained about you, so we're going to act like we're talking to you."
"You guys are awesome," Neistat responds. While it sure looked fun, Neistat was actually hard at work. He is a professional vlogger, and he has over 1,900,000 subscribers.
Neistat is also the cofounder of Beme, a video messaging app for iOS. After a successful launch garnering 285,000 downloads in the first two weeks, the app fell to 50,000 downloads for all of October.
