"Scandal" fans who were looking forward to a Jake-Olivia or Fitz-Olivia lovechild in the show may be in for a little disappointed.
According to Life & Style, the show's writers and producers have no plans on adding in Kerry Washington's rumored growing baby bump into the show.
"Scandal's not planning to work Kerry Washington's pregnancy into the show," reported the gossip magazine.
Reps for the popular ABC show have not confirmed the report, but it would make sense to keep an Olivia Pope pregnancy possibility off of the show. A baby would hypothetically slow Miss Pope down, and she is known for always being caught up in some sort of political drama.
Washington has also yet to come out and confirm her pregnancy to the public. A source told US Weekly she is about four months along, but the actress is keeping quiet about her growing baby with husband Nnamdi Asomugha. In a recent interview with Glamour, Washington explained why she has kept her private life to herself lately.
"I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me to talk about my personal life," Washington told the women's magazine. "I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine [InStyle Weddings, in 2005, when Washington was engaged to actor David Moscow]. But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, OK, no more."
Still, Washington can only dodge pregnancy rumors for so long, though she kept her alleged baby bump well hidden during her "Saturday Night Live" guest hosting stint.
You can catch new episodes of "Scandal" on ABC Thursday nights at 10 p.m.
