Arrow Season 2: Olicity Has a Defining Moment in Episode 6; Does Oliver's Confession to Felicity Set Up Her Connection with The Flash?

Last night’s episode of “Arrow” was an important one for Olicity Shippers. Let’s break it down.

Diggle had to travel to Moscow to save his ex-wife Lilah (yes she was his ex-wife, not just an old friend.) Oliver and Felicity tag along. Oliver hides this mission by saying he was going to visit a Queen Consildated subsidiary in Russia. And who should tag along but Isabelle. She has recently been on Oliver’s case about attending meetings and taking his job seriously.

Things end well for Diggle as he’s able to save his wife from the prison she was in. (She had broken in to find Deadshot but wasn’t able to break out. Diggle met Deadshot while inside but promised not to kill him if he helped get Diggle and Lilah out. Deadshot also revealed he took out Diggle’s brother on purpose because he was hired to by an organization named H.I.V.E.)

Where Olicity is concerned, things did not go so well.

While in Russia Oliver hooked up with—Isabelle. The morning after, Felicity came to Oliver’s door just in time to see Isabelle leaving. Felicity walked away visibility devastated. When they got back to the U.S. Oliver tried to explain the situation to Felicity and uttered a line that Olicity fans will hold onto for the forseeable future:

“Because of the life that I lead, I just think that it’s better to not be with someone that I could really care about.”

“Well I think,” Felicity said with a pause, “I think you deserve better than her.”

The good news—Oliver cares about Felicity. The bad news—He doesn’t see himself with her right now.

Does this help set up Felicity/The Flash? When will “Olicity” be visited again? Did anyone else come close to shedding a tear at the end of this scene? (Ok, so I didn’t cry but it felt as though I should have.)

“Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
