FX's hit series "American Horror Story" may be borrowing from recent Internet history for its upcoming sixth season.
US Magazine (via ComicBook.com) reports that the spooky anthology show will focus on the Slender Man, or Slenderman, a supernatural character that gained popularity as an Internet meme in 2009. As his name suggests, the character resembles a tall and lanky man with a blank, featureless face, wearing a black suit. The evil character was created by Eric Knudsen and has been seen in a handful of different media platforms in recent years while quickly achieving folklore status. He typically stalks his victims from a distance and is known as a menacing figure.
US Magazine reports that the character will stalk children in "American Horror Story."
"Someone else wrote the script, and AHS wants to adapt it to fit the show," an insider source told the outlet. "They have to buy the rights. Then they're going to figure out the cast from there."
Off the top of the head, "AHS" alum James Cromwell would fit the role. He's already played Nazi doctor Arthur Arden in "Asylum" and stands 6-foot-7 with sufficient villainy, and it's not like "AHS" is averse to tapping the same talent over and over again.
We'll keep you posted as more details begin to emerge.
