Sting, the rock icon and former frontman of 1970s English rock band The Police, is scheduled to perform at the upcoming 65th NBA All-Star Game halftime show, the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced. The rocker has been confirmed to perform a mix of his greatest hits.
The 16-time Grammy Award-winning artist is slated to pull from his extensive catalog of iconic songs, including "Every Breath You Take," "Roxanne," and his solo hit "Fields of Gold," according to the NBA's announcement. His performance will precede his upcoming 2016 "Rock Paper Scissors" tour, where he will embark on a slew of North American dates with fellow British musician Peter Gabriel.
Cirque du Soleil will provide pre-game entertainment with a performance that will blend acrobatics, dance and technology together to tell the story of a basketball dream.
Canadian hip-hop artist Drake and American comedian/actor Kevin Hart will go head-to-head as coaches in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game that will take place during the All-Star weekend, which will take place on Feb. 12-14 in Toronto, Canada, according to Fuse. Drake's team will feature Win Butler, the frontman of the Canadian indie rock group Arcade Fire.
"I was always treated as a post player, because I'm tall," Butler told Rolling Stone of his basketball experience in 2014. "But in my twenties, I realized that I could actually shoot. So I'm much more of a scorer now."
The 2016 NBA All-Star Game will air live on Sunday, Feb. 14, from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, with coverage beginning at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
