Tim Burton has one of the most unique and recognizable styles of any director working in film today. Los Angeles-based illustrator Andrew Tarusov has always been a huge fan of Burton's work as well as classic Disney films, and wondered what the movies would have looked like if Burton directed them. So Tarusov created illustrations of Disney characters from films like "Bambi," "The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid" and more with Burton character traits like sunken eyes and skeletal figures.
"I'm a big fan of Tim Burton's style and Disney movies," Tarusov told the Huffington Post. "So [when the idea] happened, I began to draw immediately."
"I tried to combine colorful and happy Disney characters with Burton's view," continued Tarusov. "I either took some of my favorite moments from each movie, or I based my idea on the characters' distortion."
The artist, originally from Moscow, told HelloGiggles that he used Burton's "vintage, chic and cute" twists as inspiration for his designs. "His work is often marketed as 'horror' movies, but at the same time, it's not a horror... It could be any genre."
This was not the first time Tarusov reimagined Disney characters in a different style. Last year, he took some of the classic princesses and turned them into vintage pin-up models, according to the Daily Mail.
