Fans were shocked to learn of the sudden split of the Jonas Brothers right before their fall tour the release of their now-cancelled album, "V." In a new interview with E! News, Demi Lovato gives her thoughts on the shocking break-up.
"I think everyone was surprised," the singer told E! News backstage during "The X-Factor" double elimination. "I don't think anyone was expecting it but they're off doing their own things and they're happy and I support them. They're brothers to me and I've gone through so much with them."
Lovato rose to fame on the Disney Channel alongside the Jonas Brothers, both artists starring in "Camp Rock," its sequel and embarking on multiple tours together. Lovato even briefly dated one of the brothers, Joe Jonas, and remains good friends with Nick, whom she has collaborated on several songs with.
Last week, Nick and Joe reunited onstage during the Telehit Awards Concert without Kevin, who was "focusing on business ventures" and could therefore not attend, according to an E! News source, who added that since the brothers had previously made the commitment to perform that day, they decided to honor it.
"It's a lot of pressure," Nick said of performing with Joe for the last time. "We actually didn't know that until just a couple of minutes ago. We were actually surprised by that. But it'll be great."
Less than three weeks before the start of their fall tour, "a deep rift within the band" reportedly caused the split of the JoBros, and though many have speculated that the sudden break-up may have been a cover-up for something much darker, the brothers have maintained that they still love and support each other and have no personal issues.
